A Hero T-shirt Prop for Peter Jackson’s Movie “The Lovely Bones“. Developed in illustrator and rendered in photoshop there was not much time to deliver this piece.

“We need a T-shirt for our supporting actor… oh and we need it in an hour!”

An animated  TV commercial for Flybuys commissioned by Clemenger BBDO via Cobalt VFX(now sauce FX).

“Harvest” follows the accellerated growth of a “potted” Fly Buys card into a lively, engaging plant reaching full maturity and bursting with character over the land and people. The challenge for the team was to envisage and create a simple plant growing organically and rapidly into a veritable orchard, with appealing colours to match. “We thought about how the plant could have it’s own personality, as if it were a character in itself, and kept that in mind when developing the animation”.

Simple shades of blue and green were chosen for maximum effect, while still pledgeing alliegence to the brand, and after the animation was constructed and refined the 3D shaders made from a carefuly considered palette were applied. Autodesk’s Maya was used to create the animation and Adobe After Effects for the final composite, where special attention was paid to the depth of field and finessing the grade to achieve the sublime definition of the characters and trees.

Laetitia Beaujard-Ramoo, Senior Cobalt VFX Producer says “We are extremely happy with the final result and the creative, reciprocal nature in which we were able to work with Clemenger. “Harvest” is something we are all proud of.”

The Idea here was to use mosaic transitions in a new way, taking the transition into the 3d realm  and shifting pixels in 3d space.

“Snapper has created a brand new payment category in New Zealand, based on small value payments using contactless smartcards.”

A spot done for Snapper bus cards, kinda like oyster cards… People use them for public transport. Commissioned by Chrome Toaster for Snapper Services Limited.

The Concept

The concept for this spot was simple, Snapper already had a brand so the idea was to take the fish and morph it into all aspects of the snapper service. Initially we played around with different colors and elements but decided to keep it simple, we got Sam Hayes from TV3 in for the Voice Over and we were away.

A title sequence done for Handle the Jandal 2008.

Somehow the title category went from “Best Explosive Tactics” to “exploitative tactics” 2days before the deadline… So Hence the butt.

The Concept

The idea behind this piece was to give it a stink retro feel with cheesy animation, in the end there wasn’t much time to sort out a decent character so the quickest thing to do was hack a biped and set him a light. All particle effects were done in after effects to keep things simple and the fracturing was done in 3Ds Max. The Final concept happened on Friday and it was delivered the following Monday.

The original idea was MUCH more grand we had choppers and superheros, and it wasn’t 3D. check it out here…
